BALTIMORE– US Lacrosse, the Baltimore based national governing body of men’s and women’s lacrosse, announced the addition of Bill Schoonmaker as Chief Operating Officer. Schoonmaker will join US Lacrosse in May.

Schoonmaker brings more than 20 years of experience to US Lacrosse in brand management, integrated marketing and business development. He last served at LeadDog Marketing Group as Vice President of Client Partnerships. Prior to that position, he was Vice President and Management Director for 361° Sports + Event Marketing, a business unit of DRAFTFCB, an Interpublic Company.

"Bill’s extensive marketing and management experience, combined with his deep connection to the sport, will serve US Lacrosse well in this new staff position," said US Lacrosse President Steve Stenersen. "He will provide great leadership to our organization’s continued development, and I’m very excited that he is joining our team."

Schoonmaker will oversee the development of internal operations, as well as the growth of the communications, sport development and event properties, among other duties. US Lacrosse employs over 50 full-time staff members, who manage the organization’s expanding operations and support its national structure.

"I look forward to working with the staff, board of directors, 60 regional chapters, and volunteers to further the mission of US Lacrosse," Schoonmaker said. "Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the country and I am eager to help responsibly foster that growth."

Schoonmaker holds a degree in finance from The Pennsylvania State University and was a four-year letterman with the Nittany Lion’s lacrosse team. He began playing lacrosse in a Connecticut youth program in the early 1970’s and continues to play the sport at the club level.
