The Houston Chapter of US Lacrosse is our July Chapter of the Month!
The Houston Chapter of US Lacrosse has made phenomenal progress in quickly providing opportunities for lacrosse players in their area. The chapter was formed in January of 2008, as a spin off from the North Texas and South Central Texas chapters, and in less than a year, has 28 board/committee members providing chapter leadership and an informative chapter web site. This accolade is timely as the chapter's current president and head of the its steering committee - Brian Ackman - is soon relocating to Denver. Some of the events the chapter has sponsored are:
• A National Women's Team Clinic. • Tryouts with the South Central and North Texas Chapter areas to select and send two teams to the US Lacrosse National Schoolgirl Tournament. • Sponsored a Level 1 Coaching Clinic. • Tryouts for teams ranging from U-13 to U-19 elite for over ten tournaments, showcases and festivals, including both US Lacrosse Festivals, several Downingtown tournaments, Vail/Breckenridge, All-star Express, Capital Cup and the Indian Prairie Showdown.
On the horizon: • Another Level I Coaching Clinic • A Level II Coaching Clinic (when available) • A PCA Workshop • Creation of a Hall of Fame in conjunction with the North Texas and South Central Chapters.
